A Global Grant project to train nurses in Rwanda to diagnose and treat strep throat, led by Lander Rotarians Maria Kidner and Cassy Venters, is winding up in the east African country. The training is important because strep throat, if not treated promptly, can lead to rheumatic heart disease, which can be fatal or cause lifelong disabilities. This is the largest international project ever undertaken by the Lander club. Total cost is more than $123,000. Maria and Cassy have spent 9 weeks in Rwanda to carry out the project.
