40th Buffalo BBQ Serves 1214
The club’s 40th annual Buffalo BBQ – a Lander fixture on July 4 – served 1214 meals with the help of 43 Rotarians and friends. It will be a couple of weeks before we have a final report for this community event – so stay tuned! Special thanks for a job well done to Shelby Rohrbacher and the BBQ Committee: Will Almas, MJ Greene and Rick Rollino. To thank Shelby for her leadership as chair of the Buffalo BBQ the club presented her with a Paul Harris Fellow pin and certificate on July 13. Thanks, Shelby!
“Best District Conference Ever”
Lander Rotary Club hosted the District 5440 District Conference in June. District leaders and veteran Rotarians lauded it as the “best district conference ever!” The conference featured social events at the Museum of the American West, two service projects on the Wind River Indian Reservation, numerous breakout and plenary sessions, excellent meals provided by local restaurants, and lots laughter among the 140 attendees.
Active involvement of many Lander Rotarians, led by the strong Convention Committee: Mike Lilygren (chair) Kelsey Ball, Michelle Escudero and Ron Fossen got the job done. Bryan Neely, Dottie Tonkovich, and Maria Kidner led the service projects. Congratulations on a job well done!
Next Whiskey Tasting September 15 – Save the Date – Venters Home
Results of the club survey on the newly formed Whiskey Tasting Group show preferences for:
· Bourbon, Single Malt Scotches and Gin and Tonic
· Meeting on Third Thursday of a month, 6 times per year
· Fee of $20/taster
· Host decision on providing the meal or potluck; Host and Co-Hosts and year-long calendar to be developed.

Membership
President Sarah will be speaking on membership when she gives her re-classification talk to the club on August 3. Covid, job changes, moving from the area, realigning life priorities – many factors - affected membership changes and these members departed in 2021-2022: Annie Cook, Richard Garrett, Paul McCown, Alan Daugherty, Rick Fagnant, Scott Estep, Trey Warren, Marit Snow Sawyer, Michael Cheek, Scott Hayes, Jen Lamb and Jen Peterson. Anita Roman, John Ferrelli, Kelsy Ball and Darin Busé will not be continuing their memberships in 2022-23. Steve and Anna Erixon transferred to the Rogers, AR Rotary Club. New Members in 2021-2022 are: Cori Slingerland, Maria Kidner, Rick Rollino, Brian Young and Eddie Lobatos. As of June 30, we had 64 active members and 11 honorary members.
