Watch for Helen!  She Has an Offer You Can’t Refuse!
Next Wednesday (March 18), Helen Higby and your Foundation Committee will launch a special “2X Recognition Points” campaign to encourage your contributions to the world’s best service organization!  Yes, that’s The Rotary Foundation, which distributes more than $100 million every year to support Rotary-sponsored projects around the world – but it can’t do that without your support.  Helen will be distributing flyers at our lunch meetings for the next three weeks or so telling you how you can gain Recognition Points for your donations to the Annual Fund.  We are about $1,500 short of our $9,000 goal for the year.  For more information on this promotion, contact Helen, hhigby89@gmail.com, or Committee Chair Jerry Venters, jvrotary6040@yahoo.com.

High School Scholarship Increased to $2,000; We Need More Applicants!
At its March meeting, our Service Committee voted to increase the amount of the club’s high school scholarship to $2,000 (from $1,500), a more meaningful amount to help a deserving graduating senior with college expenses this fall.  Students from Lander Valley High School, Pathfinder High School, and home-school programs are eligible.  We are seeking students who demonstrate a strong commitment to service and the Rotary value of Service Above Self.  At its April meeting, the Committee will consider awarding a second scholarship this year.  If you know of a worthy candidate, please contact Kelly Baxter, the scholarship chair, at baxter.kelly@gmail.com or (360)305-6554.  The deadline for applications is April 1.

Service Committee Has Many Opportunities for You to Get Engaged!
If you want to be engaged in Service Above Self, the club’s Service Committee, chaired by Maria Kidner, m2kidner2@gmail.com, has a boatload of opportunities for you to choose from!  You don’t have to be a member of the Service Committee to participate; all Rotarians (and friends and family members, too!) are encouraged to lend a hand.  Here are just some of the projects that could use your help in the coming weeks:
  • Help install playground equipment for Child Development Services.  The Committee has allocated $2,250.  Spring/summer project, work schedule to come.
  • Help pack “comfort bags” with hair brushes and clips, lotions, socks, etc., for needy girls at Pathfinder HS and in the community.  Supported by a District Grant of $4,600.  Club will seek expansion of grant to provide bags to girls going into foster care and on the reservation, meaning more help will be needed!
  • Help launch a new project – putting together “Birthday Celebration” bags for the Lander Food Pantry.  Bags will include cake and frosting mix, baking pan, candles, a card, etc. 15-20 bags needed each month.  $450 cost.
  •  Spring/Summer work projects: City work project (to be determined), rebuild steps at Girls Home, and more!
And Don’t Forget the Ukrainians – They Still Need Our Help!
The war in Ukraine continues, with almost daily Russian drone and missile attacks. We have shipped more than 200 solar panel cell phone chargers to Rotary clubs, schools, hospitals, etc., to help Ukrainians charge their phones to receive alerts and maintain personal communications systems. To contribute, send a check to  Rotary Club of Lander with "Ukraine Project" on the memo line, or donate online: https://lander-rotary. square.site/donate.  To help assemble solar chargers, contact Ken at ken.schreuder@gmail.com.
