Several interested Lander Citizens, a few Rotarians, and representatives of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the City of Lander ganged up on the Beavers last Saturday.

It seems as if the little fellas have been creating havoc on the Cottonwood trees along the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River and something needed to be done to curb their enthusiasm.  Since the nearby County Jail was plumb full of folks and packing the Beavers in with those folks did not seem to be wise for several reasons, another plan was devised.  Wrapping the trees with wire seems to have worked elsewhere and so that become the plan to help out the trees and to outfox the Beaver critters.

Well, at the end of the morning, it appeared that it was the trees 1 and the Beavers 0 as wire cages were erected around still healthy Cottonwoods.  One of the workers commented “chew on that you little wretches”
