We have been helping others for 80 years

At our August 31 regular meeting The Rotary Club of Lander Wyoming will be celebrating 80 years of helping others.

On August 31, 1936 an organizational meeting was arrange and held at the Nobel Hotel.  Lander Rotary was sponsored by the Rawlins Rotary Club and assisted by the Casper Rotary Club.  According to one of the founding members, both of these clubs sent representatives to this meeting.

On October 19, 1936, a banquet meeting, chaired by District Governor Roy Weaver was again held at the Noble Hotel for the official presentation of the Charter for our club.  The club was presented with it’s gavel and bell by the Rawlins club and the Casper club presented our club with a large Rotary Wheel.

There were 23 men accepted as Charter Members of the Lander Rotary Club.  They included a number of familiar Lander Area names:
  • Harold DelMonte:  Hotels
  • Harold Parks: Insurance
  • Josef Replogle: Surgeon
  • William Duncan: Dentistry
  • Harry Harnsberger:  Law
  • Paul Holtz: Physician
  • George Blakesly: Moving Pictures
  • Alex Stouter: Groceries
  • Henry Wendt:  Newspaper
  • G. M. Willson: Training School Superintendent
From those original 23 men, The Rotary Club of Lander Wyoming has grown to over 80 men and women.
This group of Lander Rotarians continues to help others.
